Kin Canada Foundation >> Hal Rogers Fellow Award >> George Reed, HRF (Oct 2013)

Many Canadian football fans will recognize the name George Reed as one of the greatest running backs in CFL history during his 13 years with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. During that time he set many records that still stand today. In 1966, he was a member of the Grey Cup champion Riders and was named MVP. He has since been inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

What many don’t know is that he was as great a human being off the field as he was on the field. During his time with the Riders, he was a 10 year member of Regina Queen City Kinsmen, where he helped to Serve the Community’s Greatest Needs.

Below is a list of the groups George has been involved with and the accolades he has received. He can now add the honor of Hal Rogers Fellow to that list.

  • Founder of a foundation to support mentally and physically challenged person, with a particular focus on youth
  • Served on Saskatchewan Special Olympics Committee
  • Former chair of the Easter Seals Campaign
  • Member of national cast for Telemiracle 1
  • Member of the Order of Canada
